Mobile CCTV Service Launched In Northern Ireland

Select Management and Security Ltd have today rolled out a new Mobile CCTV service within Northern Ireland.

The system consists of a six metre mast with high resolution long range CCTV camera system mounted on the roof. The system is linked to a high quality DVR in the rear of the vehicle, where there are two operator positions to control the unit. The roof mounted camera is also supported by further cameras, including a dash mounted camera covering in front of the vehicle.

Believed to be the first in the Northern Ireland private security industry, the Mobile CCTV Vehicle has already been deployed to a range of events including football matches and music concerts where it proved valuable tool in assisting event organisers and ensuring the safety of the public. Talks are currently in progress to use the vehicle within a community safety role in several areas with pilots already planned.

The vehicle itself is staffed by an advanced driver and CCTV operator, both of whom hold a Security Industry Authority (SIA) Public Space Surveillance licence and can deploy anywhere within Northern Ireland.

The system is targeted to work in key areas including;
Community Safety, working with local authorities to combat anti-social behaviour

Event Safety, monitoring crowd movements and obtaining evidence of any incidents such as assaults

Town Centres, working with nightlife policing teams and CCTV operators to cover blind spots in camera systems

Law Enforcement, directing and supporting teams of enforcement staff

Sports Grounds, Providing CCTV coverage for higher risk events such as Football, GAA or Rugby

Any other area where short term CCTV cover is required

To ensure that the system operated to the highest standard, Select researched what Northern Ireland companies had experience in similar operations such as Town Centre CCTV as well as their quality standards and accreditations. Andrew McQuillan, Director, commented:

We decided to work with PIP Security Systems for this new project as the quality of their work and customer service really shone through during our research. From

Select Management and Security Ltd, PO BOX 856, Belfast, BT4 9AX
initial conception they have tirelessly worked alongside us surpassing every expectation and meeting our very tight deadlines.

PIP Security System¡¦s Maurice McClay commented:
"We were delighted to be able to offer Andrew and the team at Select Security a tailored solution. The project involved a bespoke design and installation process with a tight timeframe for delivery, all involved were delighted with the end result and we are confident this new concept will be an excellent addition to their already comprehensive range of services"

As an SIA Approved Contractor, Select work to the highest of standards within the security industry and fully comply with all restrictions on the use of CCTV in Public Areas and the Code of Best Practice. As part of this commitment to high quality all the procedures for dealing with evidence captured by the Mobile CCTV vehicle are handled in a secure manner to guarantee the quality and continuity of evidence.

Andrew McQuillan further commented:
"The best practice approach for dealing with evidence is to follow the procedures and guidelines that govern how Police in the United Kingdom deal with collecting, storing and maintain evidence. We have copied the procedures and equipment that the Police use to collect evidence from their CCTV vehicles so ensure that we deliver a service to our clients that ensures all the footage we collect is available for evidence in legal proceedings. The Police Service of Northern Ireland is already using footage from our Mobile CCTV vehicle to secure prosecutions of offenders."

"This is a new and innovative solution to the problems that Councils, Event Organisers and many other organisations face. It can also be an extremely cost effective solution as it allows staff to be quickly targeted on problems and the backup of full evidential recording makes it much easier to produce clear evidence of any misconduct or offences."
